Contemporary Circus Arts Festival of Toronto
CCAFT is an annual festival in Toronto dedicated to the exploration of contemporary circus arts from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The festival is a collaboration of Toronto based companies, Anandam Dancetheatre (Brandy Leary) and A Girl In the Sky Productions (Rebecca Leonard) , and is a response to the Toronto circus community’s critical mass of activity, energy and the growing needs that accompany this developing art form.
CCAFT provides a forum for community driven discussion about the art form in a contemporary context, education opportunities for professional/artistic development, networking opportunities for artists and performance events showcasing innovation in the field. The festival strives to push the current art forms and the practitioners of contemporary circus to question creative process, to examine topical undercurrents that are influencing the form and to create a meeting place for circus arts practitioners to come together to dialogue, to learn, to share and to create.
