Verisimilitude

Our repertoire work Verisimilitude is part of a shared program with the incredible Kimberly Cooper and Marie France Forcier at the DJD Dance Centre in Calgary.

This work was created in 2019, in a period of immense disruption and painful loss in my life. It is a work that begins my choreographic exploration of how complex it is to be simple. It is a gift to revisit this work in one of the most beautiful venues in Canada.

I experience Verisimilitude as a soothing meditative act: my body is being brought to its lengthening and rotational edges, and the deep attention to the body required to make this happen safely overrides all mental clutter in the moment. The world has felt destabilizing since Verisimilitude was originally created in 2019, and the intense simplicity of this work is, quite ironically given the physical extremes involved, a very safe place.
