About
Collective Shivarathri is a durational dance and music community festival held over 12 hours on or around the lunar calendar day of Shivarathri. This festival offers an environment where practitioners of south asian art forms (traditional, folk, contemporary) share their practice with an intergenerational community of artists and audiences. The festival is an active acknowledgement of the contribution made by teachers, mentors, peers, students, audience members, and patrons to art making and sustaining, held within the context of form and practice. Collective Shivarathri is a community festival that encourages local performers to attend and gather. This is not a paid performance contract. Currently, we can only accommodate artists within Canada.
Performance Structure:
We invite academies with beginner to intermediate level dancers and musicians to the morning slot on February 18th (10 - 2 PM). The rest of the day is open to all trained artists, with afternoon, evening, and late evening slots.
