Nithya Garg: Curation and Production Intern

We are thrilled that Nithya Garg is joining ĀNANDAṀ full time for the 20/21 season as Curation and Production Intern funded by the Metcalf Foundation Performing Arts Internship.

In a highly competitive application process Nithya was selected by the Metcalf Foundation to focus on the practices of curation and production in dance, working with ĀNANDAṀ Artistic Director Brandy Leary as her mentor.

“It is a strange time to be receiving an internship that is primarily about how to build spaces for dance when the established structures of live performance have been disrupted.

What are we preparing for? What are we building? How are we practicing?

I see this time, and the training that I’m receiving through ĀNANDAṀ, as a way of asking these foundational questions and a place to be in a process of re-imagining what it means to be in a dance community with care and rigour. This year is about learning, deepening my attention and practice, strengthening our communities, and being responsible for creating ethical spaces that honour artistic labour and imagination.” —Nithya Garg
