Collective Shivarathiri is a durational event held on or around Shivarathiri where dance and music artists offer their practice and are held by audience attention and care. The effort to continue this work is rooted in our commitment to community and practice, two things so integral in the making and sustaining of art. This is the third iteration of this event, and we hope to continue making space for artists in this way, and creating an environment where artists feel welcome to simply offer their practice.
The event you are about to watch was held on February 26th, 2022 at Collective Space in Toronto, going from 12PM till 10 PM, with over 60 performers, and 8 different south asian artistic practices. We are deeply grateful that we can share this experience with you on the day of Shivarathiri. Thank you to our performers, staff, and volunteers for making this all happen. Thank you to our funders for providing the resources to conduct events in this manner. And thank you to our audience - both live and virtual - as your energy and presence is what creates the space of transmission for art to have new life.
