About Collective Space
Collective Space is a shared, sustainable arts venue that supports interdisciplinary performance and creation. It has two studios on its premises. The Mainspace (ground floor) and the Upperspace (upstairs). There will be times when people need to pass through the main entrance to access the Upperspace. We ask all renters to approach these moments with mutual courtesy and respect.
Collective Space is also home to a diverse range of percussive dance forms and practices, including Kathak, Bharatanatyam, tap, gumboot, Afro-Caribbean styles, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Odissi and more. When sharing the space, please be kind, communicative and considerate to help make it inclusive and welcoming for everyone who uses it.
Please respect your booking time. We leave 15 minutes between bookings to transition between rentals.
If your rehearsals involve sensitive material (such as nudity or vulnerable populations) and require complete privacy, please contact us first before booking to discuss how to establish the best conditions for your work.
The Mainspace includes:
Sprung Marley dance floor
Kitchen facilities: Kettle, microwave, fridge
Dressing room
Gender-neutral and accessible washroom
Wi-Fi
Basic sound system
Ground-level entrance with a large garage door
Ceiling fans, heating, and air conditioning
Accessibility
The Mainspace is located on the ground level, entrance is accessible via an automatic door. The washroom on the main floor is accessible.
The Upperspace is not accessible due to the presence of stairs for entry.
Rental Rates – Mainspace
Rehearsals: $25 per hour
Performances / Events / Video Shoots: $40 per hour (includes Upper Studio)
Insurance
The Renter must have insurance for all public events, classes, and workshops and will provide the necessary insurance.
Liability and Indemnity
By booking, the Renter acknowledges that use of the Collective Space is at their own risk.
I agree to conduct all activities with care for the premises and the safety of participants.
I accept the space “as is.”
I assume full responsibility for any injury, damage, or loss during my rental period.
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Collective Space, Anandam, its staff, and the building owners from any related claims, damages, or expenses.
Cancellation Policy
The Renter must agree to the following cancellation policy.
More than 7 days’ notice: Full refund
Within 7 days of booking: 50% refund
Within 24 hours: No refund
(A 1.9% processing fee is non-refundable in all cases.)
Studio Access and Care
The Renter must agree to all of the following studio access and care policies.
Access codes for the lockbox and Wi-Fi will be emailed 24 hours prior to your booking.
Replace the key in the lockbox immediately after entry and scramble the code when finished.
Ensure both front and back doors are locked when leaving.
No outdoor shoes on the Marley floor. Sweep the floor before departure.
The garage door may be opened during your booking but must be closed and locked upon exit.
The sound system includes a standard audio jack; bring your own adapter if needed.
