Anandam is dedicated to experimentation in the field of contemporary choreography. We create new works with a physicality that is both refined and visceral to create performances that cross boundaries and disciplines, drawing on creative structures and systems from dance, theatre, contemporary circus practices and expressing Eastern and Western artistic and aesthetic viewpoints.

Our work is not restricted by a specific institution or tradition but rather is informed by Artistic Director Brandy Leary's diverse dance background that for the past decade has spanned cultures and continents. This viewpoint inspires our work to challenge the body's expressive potential through creative inquiry that forges new dimensions in performers bodies and introduces new perspectives for working in both traditional and non traditional spaces.

We believe performance to be a sacred space of communion and transformation shared between the audience and the artists. We are profoundly dedicated to creating works that are powerful expressions of hope and passionately committed to the evolution of artistic practice in the field of dance. Our work creates new languages, develops versatile dancers and expands audiences through its innovation and accessibility. We create work that is emotionally resonate, experimentally exciting and uniquely contributes to a distinct Canadian and contemporary choreographic viewpoint.
